“So…how was your day?” “Fine.” THE END.

OK. So at our last MIC we talked about LOTS of great stuff, but there was one thing that several moms had in common: the struggle of sitting around a table w/your kiddos and having a discussion. By “discussion” I mean – a yell-free zone of more than one word answers. The great mystery of parenthood, right? I think we’ve all agreed that anytime we have their attention, is a SUPREME OPPORTUNITY not to be missed (ie, buckled in car, sitting at the table, etc). We need to CREATE those moments…they dont just happen.

Well, last year at one of our MIC get-togethers we gave our a lil “sussy” to our moms. We gave out a MIC Dinner Game (hey…we need a better name for this – c’mon, what you got moms…suggestions, please??) that was a HUGE hit. Basically, it’s just a list of good Qs to keep at the table and every night take turns answering the Qs. It is our attempt to help you out of the conversation RUT that is so quick to happen at the table. GIRLS, you’ve got them to the table – no don’t miss the opportunity!!!!!! Requests have been pouring in (well…three have poured in) to post it on the blog for other mamas to partake. So…here’s your chance.

Make tonite a memory…a time where you hear/share hearts and souls. Not just arguing over eating peas or smarmy attitudes. You can do this, moms…

Here’s what you do:

  1. At the top of the page, click on “MIC Downloads” and click on “MIC Dinner Questions” OR just click HERE, silly.
  2. Print out the document, after it downloads to your computer.
  3. Cut out the questions and store in a box or a bowl.
  4. Decide your own “rules” for the game. At our house someone draws a question and then we go around the table so everyone answers it. (It makes the questions last longer.) We also have a rule that you have to eat a bite of food before you answer (tricky, right?)
  5. Post on the MIC FB or leave a comment here telling us how it goes…we need encouragement and we need each other!

Keep up the good work, mamas!!

Just started reading this blog and love it! We have this question thing and have done it for about a year. Just refreshed our questions last night. We call it the conversation jar! It really helps to get the kids talking. Otherwise we ask what they did at school that day and get the all famous “nothing”:)!
