MIC mommies ROCK! Man, last week was great…not great because we realized how many ways we/our kids let fear rule our lives, but great because we realized we aren’t alone. From fears of plunging into the water w/our kiddos strapped in the cars (I’m still having nightmares about THAT one) to worry that forces us to work too much and trust God too little – we all have them. And, we wonder where our kids get their seemingly irrational fears…eh?
If nothing else, I think we all agreed that fear can be an anchor dragging us down if we allow it. But remember, ultimatel fear is temporary…and God is not. He’s always there – never leaving us. What words/verses/thoughts help YOU battle fear? Leave some comments…let’s encourage each other, OK? Here are a few from MIC last week:
Over 350xs in the Bible He tells us – in some way – to NOT BE AFRAID
“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope, and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 – from Cristina
“Courage is fear that has said its prayers” – Allison (in her Jill Briscoe accent)
“If __________, then God…” – Heather from the Beth Moore Esther study
“But even if He does not…” – Daniel 3:17-18 Remember, He may not rescue us from the fearful situation, but He knows the outcome and wants us to trust Him thru it.
Fear can look like many things – worry, regret, anger, jealousy, stress, arrogance
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end–because I am God, your personal God…”
Isaiah 43:1-4 The Message
We love you mommies,

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope, and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
( this is from Cristina)
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Heather, I love that one! Thanks! My favorite part of that verse above is “peace that passes all understanding” – It is one of my favorite parts of being a Christ follower!
Okay – so I have a book called “His Princess, Love Letter from Your King” by Sheri Rose Shepherd. The book is approx. 100 letters from God to us and I thought that the following letter is very fitting for the discussion we had on fear. I think we all need to remember the other side of fear, which is courage:
My Princess…. Take Courage in Me
You need never be afraid to stand up and do what is right. My child, I will always go ahead of you and prepare the way. I rescued Daniel from the mouth of the lions and delivered David from the hands of his enemies. Can you trust that I am strong enough to handle any situation? I truly want what is best for you. Take courage and walk in My strength, not your own. Face every situation head-on — armed with the sword of the Spirit, the belt of truth, the armor of righteousness, and the shield of faith. You never need to turn your back and run — I will empower you and protect you. Just stand firm and pray, and watch your courage become contagious.
Love,
Your King and your Captain of courage
“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid of them! The Lord your God will go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you.” Dueteronomy 31:6
